Les Fossés

Old Norway spruce plantation from 1950 progressively converted into uneven-aged stand.

This stand is located in the Southern part of the Ardenne closed to Léglise (49.776N, 5.464E) and is part of the IRRES network installed to study the conversion of even-aged stands into uneven-aged ones. Harvesting paths have been created and cuts regularly occurred due to windfall and bark beetle damages. The spruce regeneration is well established and the irregularization process has just been initiated.
